The main factors considered in the selection of bearings are ultimate speed and load capacity. Other factors are helpful to determine the scheme of bearing type, structure, size, tolerance grade and clearance requirements.
Factors to consider in selecting bearings
All kinds of rolling bearings have different characteristics and are suitable for different applications of various machines. Generally, thrust bearing and angular contact bearing are selected when bearing thrust load; Ball bearings are usually used in high-speed applications. When bearing heavy radial loads, roller bearings are selected.
1. Space and position of the bearing in the machine
In mechanical design, the size of the shaft is generally determined first, and then the rolling bearing is selected according to the size of the shaft. Usually, ball bearings are used for small shafts and roller bearings are used for large shafts. However, when the bearing is limited in the diameter direction of the machine, needle roller bearings, ultra light and ultra light series ball or roller bearings are selected; When the axial position of the bearing in the machine is limited, narrow or ultra narrow series ball or roller bearings can be selected.
2. Magnitude, direction and nature of load on bearing
Load is the most important factor in the selection of bearings. Roller bearings are used to bear heavy loads, ball bearings are used to bear light or medium loads, and bearings made of carburized steel or bainite quenching can bear impact and vibration loads.
In terms of load direction, deep groove ball bearing, cylindrical roller bearing or needle roller bearing can be selected when bearing pure radial load. When bearing small pure axial load, thrust ball bearing can be selected; When bearing large pure axial load, thrust roller bearing can be selected. When the bearing bears the combined radial and axial load, angular contact ball bearing or tapered roller bearing is generally selected.
